Have a beautiful day

Sometimes you just need to shift focus and change perspective
Often when we are not getting the results we seek, we simply need to change our perspective and shift our focus.
This morning I did just this, I left an uncooperative computer inside and sat outside for ten minutes to regroup.
A coffee, an entertaining magazine, sunlight on my skin and a slice of delicious pumpkin bread later, I had re-focused.
My computer stopped being stubborn, more likely my head was just clear enough to focus…..
Ten minutes was all I needed (granted at times we need a little more) but suddenly my entire perspective had changed.
Sometimes it’s important to stop and wonder if you are actually insane.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Sometimes we simply need to find that ten minutes of down time, to stop, to breathe, to think and find clarity.
Find your rainbow through the clouds.
Doing what you love and loving what you do
As I type I am sitting in a newly created zen room in my house, a place to exercise, a place to work, a place just for me.
I listen to music, I look out at my frangipani trees, a light breeze is blowing in through the windows, and I think about my life. I am currently working on some business plans, this morning I taught a fitness class.
I am doing what I love and I am loving what I do.
As I have said before, it isn’t always easy, yet if you love what you do, the obstacles suddenly become challenges rather than threats or annoyances, and every goal achieved however small is a huge win.
If you are not doing what you love or loving what you do, ask yourself why.
Is it fear?
Fear can be overcome.
Fear of ridicule, fear of failure, all thoughts in your mind, all can be changed.
Trust yourself, believe in yourself, love yourself enough to do what you love and then spend every waking minute loving what you do.
Don’t you owe it to yourself to be happy, then share that happiness with your partner, your colleagues, your parents, your friends, your kids.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Whatever you want to achieve, whether in your career, relationships or fitness, you must know clearly what you want.
What is your desired outcome?
Visualize it with absolute clarity.
Then set a plan on achieving it.
Then ask yourself honestly is your plan realistic.
With less than 2 months to go before Xmas, losing half your body weight is probably not a realistic goal.
Losing a few kilos and increasing the amount of push ups you can do probably is.
Do you think the Romans woke up one day and decided to build an amazing city tomorrow.
Every worthwhile dream and goal is worth working hard for.
Don’t put the extra pressure on yourself to achieve everything all at once (I am guilty of doing this a million times).
It’s not worth it though.
Enjoy your journey, you are working hard, why not savour each moment along the way.
Set mini realistic goals, and then celebrate each and every milestone.
Everything is energy
As I sit and watch a rather large storm brewing outside my house, I start to think about energy.
I love the crazy energy that a building storm brings.
My hair will sense a storm several hours before it even hits.
Everything is energy, and just as my hair will pick up the storms energy and pre-warn me with massive curls and frizz, so to can the energy you put out affect those around you.
So I ask you this, do you think it’s possible that if you consciously decide to emit positive energy, that more often than not, you will attract positive energy in return?
This positive energy will present itself through the people you meet or the situations you encounter.
Likewise if we keep holding on to negative thoughts and feelings those feelings will keep growing stronger and bringing more negative energy, thoughts, feelings and situations our way.
Where your focus goes the energy flows.
Next time you are lying down, try this; lie on your back with your palms facing up to the ceiling.
Focus on your palms and as you do, notice a slight tingling feeling in your hands, then notice that feeling intensifying, as you hold your focus there…..
Crazy huh!
Everything is energy, it’s up to you how you want to use it.
Go to nature to be soothed and healed
Today I am sharing a post by a wonderful friend of mine.
The post includes a photo of me taken by the very talented shy fox photography.
The photo shoot was taken at sunrise, it was cold sitting in the ocean at 5:30 in the morning, and I had only slept 2 hours the night before.
Sitting in the water I felt the calming effects of nature soothing and energizing me.
Check out the short but beautiful post here.
Sweet potato patties (a quick and healthy snack)
Being in the fitness industry I often have people asking me about quick and easy healthy recipes.
I am not really one to follow a recipe exactly or even use a recipe at all despite the large volume of recipe books I promise my husband I will use one day, which I why I can’t possibly get rid of them 🙂
The other day I was thinking of my love for sweet potatoes – yes I spend a great deal of time thinking about food.
For a little person I am always grazing (like a cow someone once said – yes thanks for that) but true none the less.
So back to food….
I made sweet potato patties the other day and I got to be honest- they kind of rocked my world!
So I peeled (obviously, the peel on them would be silly) and chopped up about 3 large sweet potatoes, which I then boiled until soft.
I chopped up some onion which in hindsight I should have cooked a little first, rather than just throwing it into the mix.
Then I threw it all in a blender.
I added a tin of chickpeas and a few tablespoons of flour.
I added some cumin and coriander powder (I couldn’t tell you how much – whatever you think or add spices that appeal to you)
I also added a few fresh herbs from my garden coz I love fresh herbs.
I mushed it all up – well the blender did all the work while I stood by and watched.
Then I made them into little patties, I chucked them in the oven or you could fry them and wallah a it’s great lunch or dinner snack with salad.
You will know when they are cooked as they go brown but not too brown.
Please let me know your thoughts or any other variations of this or any other quick and easy heathy recipes you would like to share.
Everything is better when it’s shared with love.
Ps – quick sweet potato other delightful treat:
Chop up sweet potatoes thinly,
pre-cook in microwave for about 4 minutes then cook in fry pan add a little fresh ginger, garlic, and soy sauce and have as a snack.
It too will rock your world and have your taste buds singing with joy.
Feeling fortunate
If you have little money but a wealth of loving friends and family around you are rich!
If you can find something positive in every situation you can always find joy!
If you can keep calm when chaos surrounds you, you can survive anything!
If you can remember that there is always someone more attractive, fitter, stronger, wealthier, younger, more successful than you then you can always feel fortunate and love yourself and find happiness within!
